Rugby and Defender have a deep connection. We are cast from the same mould, made for strength and durability.
Rugby demands an inner strength and a level of endurance that Defender embodies. Both represent the spirit of adventure and the determination to achieve excellence. A perfect match for those who seek to push boundaries, on and off the field.
Together we celebrate the strength and resilience of the human spirit. Together we embrace the impossible.
In 1887, 10 year old Emily Valentine begged to join a game of rugby when her brothers were down a player. Jettisoning her coat and hat, and despite her Victorian petticoats, Emily used her speed and determination to cut through the opposition to score the first ever documented try by a woman. An inspiration for the women and girls of the future.
To bring this foundational story of women’s rugby to life, we returned to the place where it happened in Enniskillen, Ireland. The proactive local club proudly continues Emily Valentine’s trailblazing legacy with a thriving girls’ rugby section. One of many examples of how women’s rugby thrives around the world.
