LAND ROVER’S DEDICATION TO EQUESTRIAN SPORT

Supporting equestrian sports is part of Land Rover’s DNA. From its historic sponsorship of Burghley Horse Trials and the three-day event in Kentucky, equestrian sport is deep within the brand’s heritage all around the world.

Most recently and more locally, Land Rover has partnered with Equestrian Sport New Zealand in an aim to support the country’s high performance team in their training, and to achieve incredible results and medals overseas. The partnership is also working to develop the grassroots of equestrian sport around the country by helping to build future champions.

There are a multitude of regional events up and down the country, deepening our relationship with equestrian communities in the regions and allowing our local Land Rover retailers to host and sponsor individual events.

We are also proud sponsors of Takapoto Classic and Land Rover Horse of the Year, which are two incredible events in the equestrian calendar.

Takapoto Classic is the most luxurious equestrian event in New Zealand. Taking place in the Waikato, spectators enjoy world-class show jumping accompanied by a wide variety of amenities including food trucks, cafes and bars, and boutique trade village shops.

Land Rover offers a Defender driving experience, which takes guests off-road showing them the capabilities and technology of the vehicle, we host a PHEV display of a range of our vehicles, and we also offer intimate and premium customer hosting experiences for customers to enjoy everything that Takapoto Classic has to offer.

Land Rover Horse of the Year is the largest equestrian event in the country and this year it’s set to welcome over 1,400 riders and 1,800 horses from all around the country and around the globe. Expecting to attract 50,000 spectators to Hawkes Bay and to enjoy what the region has to offer, the event will inspire many equestrian enthusiasts as well visitors to New Zealand.

Dedicated to supporting the equestrian industry from grassroots to national events, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, Steve Kenchington said, “Having built a deeper connection to the sport via our partnership with Equestrian Sport New Zealand over the past few months, we are dedicated to supporting the industry to be able to grow and help its riders achieve incredible results on a global scale.”

“Afterall, we want to show the rest of the world that there are plenty of riders from New Zealand who have the potential to win international acclaim and be known as some of the best riders out there - just like Tim and Jonelle Price.”
